Meet the Team

  • Kate founded KLO Scouting in 2016 after several years working as a scout in Berlin & London, via an Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs grant. She grew up in Cumbria, studied literature in London & the US,  and gained an MPhil in Film Theory, History & Practice from Trinity College Dublin. With almost a decade of experience as a book-to-screen scout for companies in the UK, US, Ireland and Australia, Kate has a vast network and sharp instincts to draw on when helping her clients find IP that’s right for them. She loves characters that mess with an audience’s moral compass, who make crazy choices to go after the things they think they need and who remind us insistently of our own humanity.

  • Colette started reading for KLO Scouting in 2018 whilst finishing up her PhD at UCL (if anyone ever wants to discuss nationalism, neoliberalism, Scottish poetry, or any of the above, she’s your man). After graduating, she joined KLO full-time as a scout in 2020; she is genuinely delighted to have found a job where people find her research skills useful in the real world. She is the team’s resident Graphic Novel, podcast, SFF nerd, and loves a heartfelt, complex sibling relationship in a novel. She is an Arts Emergency Mentor, TTRPG writer and cat-steward, whose viewing taste was irreparably shaped by early 2000s BBC comedy programming, Studio Ghibli features, Mulholland Drive, and the 1996 cinema classic The First Wives Club.

  • Paige started her career in indie publishing, before moving into scouting. She worked at another scouting firm before joining KLO in early 2023, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and connections from the world of international publishing rights. She also takes part in several mentorship schemes aimed at opening access to the publishing industry.

Scout + Office Coordinator

  • Laura joined the KLO Scouting team as part-time assistant and researcher in September 2023, having worked as a reader for KLO since 2019. She has previously worked in Children’s Rights and Editorial 6+, and undertook a Creative Writing MSt at Oxford University. Her tastes are wide-ranging, but she loves a good literary thriller or a biting social satire, and if all else fails something gay.
